Remember years ago all games were platform exclusive. I remember friendly rivalry with mates about which platforms had the best games. Then devs realized it was financially stupid because although some people bought multiple consoles and a pc, many didnt which meant millions in revenue down the drain. So exclusivity became a thing of the past for big titles. Funny how things go full circle and they think its even viable again.

I do remember... It realy was a bummer my Megadrive games didn't fit in my friends Amiga or NES, most devs were specialized in their own system in those days.
I also remember it was MS convincing the industry that exclusivity was bad when they entered the market with the Xbox, not the devs.

When gaming was still a niche and you just had to visit your friends if you wanted a multiplayer... Those days 😹

Not necessarily! If you look at Fromsoftwares Dark Souls: They have insane DLCs that are all fantastic, some better than the base game. Some of them got shadowdropped without any Trailer or hype-buildup behind them xD

And there is the difference: Shadowdropped.
What is happening with ASA is far from "shadow", it is constantly screaming "LOOK NEXT WEEK AT US SCREAMING AGAIN".

A good shadowdrop saves a lot of marketing cost, complaints about delays, unforfilled expectations and whatever more is dissapointing or negative while everybody is pleasantly surprised.

Whatever is asked about PC specifications to upgrade or not. This is a bottomless pit. If everyone played on consoles, developers would only need to concentrate on one specification and everything would become easier and quicker

yup ... thats real logic ... (at which point do we tell them that a console is a compressed computer in a box)

So since Steam is getting it before console.....

HOW DOES THE "CROSSPLAY" ACTUALLY WORK?!?!!!!?!!!?!!?!!??

You advertised crossplay before but it was only between Xbox on console and Xbox on PC in a special, segregated, server cluster (Xbox to Xbox on PC is the same game license and platform... Not actually crossplay)

Since Steam is getting it now... Are they on a completely separate cluster? (If so will they ever be a part of the crossplay option?)

Are there goin to be designated platform specific clusters and crossplay clusters?

Despite the anti pillar systems that the devs implemented..  the existence of pillar spam is a direct result of the Dev's advice to the community.  It has become such and engrained part of the community that if the servers are all crossplay and PC has even 2days access before console... There will be no remaining property available (certainly not anything worth playing for at least).

You have images of steam, PlayStation, and Xbox all being involved in crossplay... Are these servers to come later or at launch? Are all servers crossplay? Do we have the option not to crossplay? How many of each server type will there be? Will transfers between clusters be possible? Will there be server mergers and wipe implemented in order to make it crossplay but fair for PC doesn't have days/weeks of advantage over everyone else?

This is critical information for players to know!

My friend bought ASE on PlayStation just after the official launch. When he joined, every server was fully established, players were hostile and territorial, and after a few days of tryin to get into the game, he gave up and got a refund.

This story will happen to thousands of paying customers within the first month if PC gets such an advantage.

This is why this information is critical.

As someone who has purchased this game on multiple platforms, recruited new players and purchased the game for them as well.... I have sunk hundreds of dollars into this game.  All I am asking is that you are open and direct with us.  No unclear, evasive, or ambiguous wording(like "crossplay" when you only mean between Xbox licenses).

Just a simple explanation of how the structure is going to work.

Please

For now. Simple, it doesn't.

And if the consoles are added as crossplay to Steam clusters at a later date. The PC players just had that weeks/months head start.

This is a new level of apologist nonsense.

Welp...I just got a look at the long awaited A.S.A. reveal trailer and first in-game gameplay...and uh...yeah, my earlier comment still stands. I mean, it's nice and all, but nothing I saw made me particularly desiring to play it over A.S.E. since I already have it.

I mean...Maaayyyybbbe if I was completely new to Ark and didn't already have A.S.E., then I might buy A.S.A. instead. But, since wc/sg continued to sell A.S.E. all these months without letting potential new customers know of the soon upcoming A.S.A., then I'll guess we'll see how many people are in that boat.

The only things I saw which truly stood out to me were 1) the fact that they seem to have completely redesigned The Island map and 2) the apparent fact that their redo of animal AI path-following and behavior does seem to be a lot better.

But since I already have A.S.E., none of that is going to make me run out to buy the game when considering all the likely downsides that I noticed to the "upgrade". I don't know how many others of you noticed these things, both in the trailer and the real gameplay, but A.S.A. is going to be Laaaaaggggggyyyyy as heck on multiplayer servers. I saw quite a few instances of noticeable lag as well as clear potential lag triggers in the new ways that they've set up the game. And keep in mind that I noticed these things within in-game instances where only 1 to like 5 or so people were playing together. Now imagine a 70 person server with gigantic forts, tons of rafts, and hundreds of tamed critters? And on Nitrado servers?

I already knew this, but I'm now definitely probably only going to be able to play A.S.A. on single player. And I saw no human NPCs to interact with to fill out the single player experience. That being the case, the launch price isn't worth it to me since I already have A.S.E. with no single player NPCs. Soooooo.......... WildCard, let me know when it goes on sale for $5 yeah? It'd be much appreciated!

You know what, actually, alternatively; I'd pay you wc/sg $20 if you created a DLC for A.S.E. which included the fixed building mechanics, fixed creature AI, wild babies, new items, and new creatures. I'd pay you another $5-$15 if you added that new story expansion DLC to A.S.E. that you said you're going to add to A.S.A.

Now......I'ma no mathematician, but $35 from me sounds like more than $5(or potentially $0 if A.S.A. never goes on sale for $5). So, really, you'd be making more profit to help bail out your debt in the long run. (Even in the short run cause I'd run to go buy a $20 DLC with those fixes and add-ons for A.S.E.).

I love how all of the Gaming headlines are reading:

. Ark Survival Ascended out on PC today!
. Any minute now
. Minor delays, no worries.
. Any second.......
. Nevermind.

HaHa! Yes! 🤣

It was really funny to watch Syntac's live broadcast of the Xbox event. He was all; "Oh! I got my free key!" And then he was; "They said it's going to release on Steam today! I guess we're not getting any sleep tonight boys! Hmm, the Steam page still doesn't say it's able to download......I guess I'll just sit here and keep refreshing the page till it says the game is ready." And then after about 40 minutes he finally said; "Well, okay guys, I'm not going to have you all just sit here for who knows how long till the game is released. So, I guess we'll end the livestream here."

wc/sg are good at 1 thing at least. Even when you think they can't possibly do any worse, they just keep finding new ways of messing up and letting you down.
